A friend tipped me off to an Orca ad on the back cover of December’s Quill and Quire, featuring Cursed! and two other lovely Orca books. I can’t say I ever expected to be in Quill and Quire, in any form. I’m thrilled!

Cursed Business
I’m in a flurry of activity for Cursed!, my new Orca Young Reader coming out in the fall. We’ve set a launch date – October 16, Monkeyshines Book Store (in Calgary), 1:00. I’m working on notes for a teacher’s guide, planning for the web page, and designing buttons. Yes, I’ll have Cursed! buttons!

Cursed!
We have a name! Finally, after dozens of suggestions back and forth and around the Orca office, it’s been decided.
Cursed!
Jane is the quiet, fearful one in a family of extroverts—at least until the Spirit Man in her grandmother’s bathroom starts messing with her family.

The Book That Will Not Be Named
We’re still debating titles for the Spirit Man book (working title “There’s A Witchdoctor In My Grandmother’s Bathroom”).
When the manuscript wouldn’t print at Orca, my editor started to worry that the witchdoctor has cursed us because we changed his name to the Spirit Man.
The editing is almost done, in a very un-cursed-like-mode, but we’re still working on the title. And so it has become, temporarily, The Book That Will Not Be Named.

Eric Orchard is doing the cover for the soon-to-be-renamed There’s a Witchdoctor In My Grandmother’s Bathroom (Orca, Fall 2010). He did Feather Brain, and I adore it. I begged for Eric again, and it’s finally organized. I’m so pleased.
