Launch Dates, Award Nomination

It’s been an exciting week:

Coteau has set a launch date for the sequel to The Nexus Ring. Well, not a date exactly, but a season –  Spring 2010. At the moment we’re calling the story Crow Boy, but I’m not sure whether that’s going to stick.

Orca will be publishing Witchdoctor (title still to be determined) in the fall of 2010. Like Feather Brain, it will be an Orca Young Reader.

Feather Brain has been nominated for another award, the Rocky Mountain Book Award. That’s Alberta’s Readers’ Choice Award, with voting next May.

And the howweirdcanyouget.com contest is wrapping up – I’ll be announcing the winner on the weekend.

Now I just need to find some time to write.

Here’s the old artwork from howweirdcanyouget.com, while it was under construction. I liked it so much I wanted to save it here.

Enter the Contest!

Have any great ideas for magical wonders? Enter them in the contest on howweirdcanyouget.com. It’s meant for kids, and the prize will go to a child, but kidults can send in ideas, too! Let’s see who has the wackiest imagination.

I was shopping for bulbs one day and found a small leather notebook, perfect as a prize for the contest (along with a signed copy of Feather Brain). You can see an image of the notebook on howweirdcanyouget.com.

websites

maureenbush.com is up and functioning. It’s not quite finished, but close enough for now. Coming soon: a map for The Nexus Ring, with photos of some of the beautiful locations in the story.

howweirdcanyouget.com isn’t quite ready – any day now, I hope.

How Weird Can You Get?

Check out the temporary artwork for howweirdcanyouget.com, for a sample of Derek Mah’s humour (there’s a link to the right, under My Websites). It makes me laugh. It’ll be gone as soon as the website is ready, replaced by more of Derek’s magic. Well, Griffith’s magic, actually, but that’s another story.
